Project Management

In the modern construction world project management is the key to success. 

Here we would like to help you fill your portfolio with the skill's to success and possibly a future career.
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
The CIOB is a chartered management institute specifically dedicated to the construction industry.  They aim to work towards continued development, conservation and improvement of the build environment.  They hold a industry recognized accreditation scheme which works closely with the CITB.

So what do they have to offer:  They are a leading CPD provider working in all areas of the construction industry.  They run events throughout the UK and have offered to provide direct training to InstRE units on request via the InstRE CPD Co-ordinator. They also have a in depth online CPD portal connected to CM magazine and BIM+.  The new portal is called the CIOB academy and is full of information and online training. 
The CIOB is the first partner in the new InstRE CPD partnership scheme and have offered to assist in mentoring members to chartered status, so if your looking to arrange an event just let us know.

CIOB is an InstRE partner and events are at CIOB member rates to InstRE members on arrangement.

APM
The Association of Project Managers is a leading organisation in practicing procedures undertaken by project managers across a variety of industries.  Their aim is to develop individual leaders in to dynamic thinking, with an aim of making all projects succeed.

So what do they have to offer: They conduct a number of great CPD events in the management area.  These events are ideal for the individuals who require to develop their portfolio and have a basic understanding of project management.   The APM run a number of developing project management courses from introduction to major programme management skills.  If your looking to improve your change management knowledge or earn market value this is the place to start.

Events are slightly increased for non-members

BRE
Once known as the British Research Establishment the BRE specialise in developing and testing construction materials and practises.  They are the leaders in sustainable schemes to reduce energy consumption in modern buildings.  If you have never visited one of their innovation parks I recommend you do.

So what do they have to offer:  They run a number of sustainable course based around the BREEAM and Sustainable Homes concepts.  The BRE offer two areas of CPD training, CPD conferences giving you information on changes in technology and how they are being implemented, their second avenue is attending direct training events at one of their research centers.  The BRE conduct training in H&S, Renewables and Sustainability, Energy, Waste Management and design.

Events are normally free or low costs, but training can be weighty.

Prince's Regeneration Trust
The Prince's Regeneration trust works on rescuing redundant historic sites for the benefit of the surrounding community, tho not directly a CPD provider they open opportunities to volunteer on a number of unique projects.

So what do they have to offer:  EGStructures is working with InstRE volunteers to develop a costed design to create a work shop within a row of 1800's terrace houses, as part of the BRICK project in Stoke.  This project will allow volunteers to develop their design skills within a relaxed training environment; skill gaps can be filled with CPD training events conducted with InstRE partners, with the aim of accrediting these practices.   If you are interested in getting involved or want to know more about the event please send the editor your details.
